EVENT: Piadina Tasting at Eataly
Oct 21, 2022
On Saturday 10/08 a tasting of our Piadina was held at Eataly Downtown, New York.
The collaboration between Fresco Piada USA and Eataly USA, which started two years ago, was one of the initial steps that allowed us to introduce Piadina into the American market.
Since the birth of Eataly, with its opening in 2007 of the first store in Turin, it has offered the best of artisanal productions at reasonable prices thanks to the creation of a direct relationship between producer and distributor and by being inspired by values such as sustainability, responsibility and sharing. Eataly now
covers a primary role regarding Italian food abroad, but it would be reductive to speak just about food.
Eataly is a spokesman for the Mediterranean cuisine, culture and food and wine history of our country. For these reasons, it chose Fresco Piada USA and our Piadina for its stores throughout the United States.
The appointment was for Saturday 8th (from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) in the heart of the Downtown Eataly store, near the World Trade Center.
Fresco Piada USA's booth served samples of Piadina, both Oil and Traditional, filled with Italian specialties (Prosciutto di Parma, Mozzarella), able to offer to the customers that were present in the store all the flavours, emotions, trying to elicit in them the curiosity to know more about this flatbread. To welcome people into the Fresco Piada booth there were Angela Rapino and her assistant Elena, an Italian influencer, that has now moved to New York and entertains people by telling stories about her new American life through her page lavaligiastellestriscie.
The two of them not only welcomed visitors with samples of Piadina but also explained our product's authenticity, origins and ingredients and answered all questions from curious visitors.
There were many questions about Piadina, but also about its land of origin, Emilia-Romagna. Such an interest pleased us enormously because we took it as a sign of genuine interest from Americans, not only on the product itself but also on its history and origins.
The organized tasting, thanks to Eataly, was an all-around lesson about the world of Piadina, still scarcely known in the U.S. and often mixed up with other popular flatbreads in the U.S., such as tortillas, pita and naan.
Young people, adults and the elderly were surprised by the Piadina, its smell and taste, immediately noticing the difference with the flatbreads they are normally accustomed to. So much that some people instantly bought the packs of Piadina on the display after their first taste. It was truly a complete "journey" around the discovering of piadina for Americans, which we will definitely try again in the future for all Italian food lovers and those who are looking forward to tasting this cuisine for the first time.
