Sausage & Peppers Piadina with Provolone

The hearty one

Think sausage and peppers — but inside a warm piadina.

Savory Italian sausage, tender peppers and melted provolone turn this into one of the most satisfying recipes in the collection.

Ingredients

For 1 piadina

  • 1 Fresco Piada piadina
  • 1 Italian sausage, casing removed
  • ½ bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 2 oz provolone or scamorza
  • Extra virgin olive oil

How to make it

Heat a skillet over medium heat.

Add the sausage and break it into small pieces as it cooks. Brown for about 6–7 minutes.

Add the sliced pepper and continue cooking until softened.

Warm the piadina, then add the cheese to one half.

Top with the hot sausage and peppers.

Fold the piadina and return it to the skillet for about one minute, pressing gently, until the cheese begins to melt.

Serve hot.

Keep it easy

Regular supermarket Italian sausage works perfectly here. We prefer sweet or mild sausage so it doesn't overpower the other ingredients.
